11. John BETTIS was born about 1738 in Edgecombe Co., NC. He died d. pre. 1784 in Edgefield Co., S.C.. He was buried in Old Horne Creek Baptist Churchyard. A United States War Department marker is in Bettis Square in Ebenezer Cemetery in Trenton, South Carolina. John served in the South Carolina Brigade, Revolutionary Army. There is a United States War Department Revolutionary marker erected to his service record in Bettis Square in Ebenezer Cemetery in Trenton, S.C.

He was married to Mary WILSON (daughter of John WILSON and Mary RUSSELL) in 1760. Mary WILSON was born about 1740 in Cumberland Co., N.C.. She died in 1827 in Amite Co., Miss.. She was buried in 1827 in Old Zion Hill Baptist Churchyard. John BETTIS and Mary WILSON had the following children:
